Technically, Treehouse Treats has been around since the summer of 2011, selling at a few markets, but Wes, Betty, and I have only been on board since September. We've had the ball rolling pretty quickly, already selling successfully at markets and events. However, seeing as how we're a brand new social enterprise, there is a ton of work that we've had to do and are continuing to do, including filling out funding applications, writing our business plan, recruiting volunteers, coming up with a snazzy logo, perfecting our recipes, and taste testing.
We're booked for a couple of Winter Farmers Markets, the first date being November 19th, but this means that we have to have our products passed through the Food Jury. That's right, the market has a jury that all vendors must go through before the products can be sold to the public. This makes a lot of sense, but also means that this weekend, we had our hands full of flour and apples galore in coming up with the "perfect" rustic galettes to present to the panel of judges.
Though our original galette had a simple apple filling, we're finding new fruits and vegetables to include, and so we've come up with some new variations and flavours. So to tease you, here's a sample of what we hope you will also be seeing at our table in a couple of weeks..
